Heptathlon

Surely the most high status event of the Olympic Games is the 100m sprint.  Is it because it’s the shortest event and is over in seconds, or is it because it’s sexy to be called ‘the fastest person alive?’  Just doesn’t seem as alluring to say ‘He can throw a javelin further than anyone else!!’
